Child Disability Specialist Position

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Child Disability Specialist to join our team at Appleton Farms in Ipswich, MA. As a member of our staff, you will play a critical role in supporting the social-emotional health and wellness of campers with diverse needs and abilities.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of behavioral modification and child development principles. They will work closely with our Camp Director to review camper profiles, finalize camp materials, facilitate staff workshops, and attend staff trainings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead staff training sessions on understanding and supporting campers with varying needs
- Review camper records and documents to ensure successful integration into camp programs
- Communicate with caregivers to set up campers for success and provide necessary accommodations
- Develop and implement strategies to support campers who require modifications or accommodations
- Collaborate with Camp Educators/Counselors and Counselors-in-Training to develop effective strategies for camper support
- Assist in setting up indoor and outdoor activities that cater to diverse camper needs
- Ensure accurate documentation of administrative duties related to camper accommodations and interactions
Requirements:
- Masters degree or equivalent experience in social work, education, child development, special education, or relevant field
- Strong knowledge of behavioral, social, and developmental needs of children with diverse abilities
- Experience working with children with varied needs and interests
- Able to work across a large campus in various weather conditions
Salary and Benefits:
This is a seasonal, non-exempt position offering a competitive salary of $35/hour for 12-15 hours/week. The Trustees also offer discounts on merchandise and events, as well as free entry to all properties.
