Educational Support Specialist

Charing Heath, United Kingdom Outcomes First Group Full time

How would you like to be compensated for five days of work while only committing to four?

At Outcomes First Group, we prioritize the wellbeing of our employees, constantly seeking innovative ways to enhance work/life balance. We are participating in a trial of the 4-Day Working Week, allowing you to potentially work one day less each week (or its equivalent).

This initiative will be implemented within our educational setting once we have a complete staff roster, making this an exciting opportunity to become part of our community.

Position: Educational Support Specialist - Maternity Cover

Location: Heath Farm School

Salary: £16,669.25 per annum (not pro-rata)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Fixed Term, Term Time only

UK Applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

As we continue to expand, we have an excellent opportunity for an Educational Support Specialist to become part of our dedicated team at Heath Farm School, a member of Acorn Education.

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Educational Support Specialists to join our remarkable team at Heath Farm School. In this role, you will assist our educators in adopting a creative approach to teaching students based on their individual educational requirements, thereby maximizing their achievements and developmental potential.

This position is ideal for an Educational Support Specialist eager to begin or advance their career in education, with a passion for inspiring learning in students with diverse and complex needs. Your role will be both challenging and fulfilling, within an environment that emphasizes strong safeguarding practices, where students are heard, respected, and involved in decision-making processes.

Quality remains our top priority, and we take pride in the excellence of our services. We are looking for an Educational Support Specialist who can engage with individual students and small groups, prepare classrooms and materials, and foster positive relationships to encourage interaction and learning. Our Educational Support Specialists provide vital assistance to our educators and have the chance to contribute to lesson planning and delivery in a creative and supportive environment.

While prior experience in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) setting is advantageous, strong support skills, motivation, personal attributes, and resilience are equally essential. These roles are well-suited for individuals transitioning from customer-facing roles in sectors such as retail, hospitality, and leisure, seeking a position that positively impacts students' lives and futures.

We seek individuals who share our vision of empowering vulnerable young people in the UK to lead fulfilling lives and navigate their paths in the world.

Requirements

Applicants should be educated to GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English. You should be calm, engaging, resilient, enjoy teamwork, and be genuinely motivated to help every student reach their full potential.

About Us

We are an independent SEN school that provides a unique and stimulating environment, enabling every student to achieve outstanding progress in their personal development and educational success.

Our students present a wide array of needs, including social and emotional challenges, learning difficulties, mental health issues, and related conditions. However, they can experience remarkable outcomes and find happiness at school. All classes maintain excellent ratios of at least 2:1, students to adults, typically comprising 6-8 students.

As an independent SEN institution, we are free from the bureaucracy often found in traditional schools, allowing us to implement effective and tailored initiatives that prioritize the best interests of our students.

Acorn Education is the UK's leading independent provider of specialized education and care for vulnerable students and young people. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are at the forefront of our sector, establishing and delivering innovative approaches that yield measurable outcomes for those in our care.

We are proud to announce that in 2024, Outcomes First Group was officially recognized as a 'Great Place to Work' for the fifth consecutive year.

Why Choose Acorn Education?

Your health and wellbeing are our priority, and we offer an exceptional rewards package that includes:

  • Life Assurance
  • Pension scheme with options to enhance your contributions
  • "Your Wellbeing Matters" – access to a comprehensive range of mental health support services and physical health assessments
