About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical, Electrical, and Trim (MET) Technician to join our team at Steer Automotive Group. As an MET Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers' vehicles are repaired to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and replace mechanical, electrical, and trim components of various vehicle makes and models, including electric and hybrid vehicles.
  • Carry out all necessary mechanical and body work on allocated jobs, as well as ADAS and wheel alignment.
  • Dismantle vehicles ready for the panel shop.
  • Carry out inspections, fault-finding, and diagnostic work.
  • Order replacement parts.
  • Re-assemble the vehicle with new parts as required to pre-accident condition.
  • Ensure all work meets the company's quality standards and complies with safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with the wider team regarding the status of repairs.

About You

We are looking for a skilled and experienced MET Technician who has a strong attention to detail and the ability to work skilfully and safely under pressure. You will have significant experience working as an MET from an accident repair background, including training and working knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicles.

Requirements

  • Significant experience working as an MET, working on a range of vehicle types including electric and hybrid.
  • Competent in ADAS, wheel alignment, strip/refit, mechanical work and using diagnostic machines.
  • Able to plan your workload efficiently and effectively so that vehicles are ready to agreed timescales.
  • Complete your work in line with manufacturers specifications.
  • Able to work as part of the team, as well as on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible in your approach, always working to high standards and with customer satisfaction in mind.
  • Follow Health & Safety guidelines at all times, including ensuring a clean and tidy work area and wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Experience and training in electric and hybrid vehicles as well as hold ATA/NVQ qualifications in automotive repair, and we will support in renewing these.
