Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Opportunity

Luton Bennett, a leading supplier of manufacturing machinery with a global reputation for excellence, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging projects and contribute to the ongoing development of special purpose automation machinery.

Salary: £62,500 - £72,500 per annum (dependent on experience)

This position involves leading mechanical design works using SolidWorks and ensuring designs comply with specifications and safety regulations. As a key member of the product development team, you will support the Product Development Manager in driving innovation and delivering high-quality solutions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing special purpose machinery, planning project budgets, and managing complex engineering projects. You will also need excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide guidance to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead mechanical design works using SolidWorks to develop innovative solutions for special purpose automation machinery
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of design, engineering, and manufacturing processes
  3. Develop prototype test plans and conduct thorough testing to validate design performance
  4. Support and lead design reviews to ensure compliance with specifications and safety regulations
  5. Mentor and guide junior engineers to enhance their skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  1. Proven track record as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with extensive experience in designing special purpose machinery
  2. Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers
  3. Experience in planning project budgets and managing complex engineering projects
  4. Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices, including geometrical tolerancing and solid modeling
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
