Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes and guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Execute culinary techniques specific to the assigned section, maintaining high standards of taste, presentation, and quality.
  • Assist in the setup and organization of the kitchen, ensuring all necessary ingredients, equipment, and tools are available and in proper working order.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized working environment, adhering to strict food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality and consistency of dishes throughout the cooking process, reporting any issues to senior chefs.
  • Assist in the management of ingredient inventory, ensuring proper stock rotation, storage, and labeling.
  • Work closely with the culinary team, effectively communicating and collaborating to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions for new dishes, improvements, or adaptations, collaborating with senior chefs in menu planning and development.
  • Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, following all health and safety regulations.
  • Develop and complete training courses available, encouraging others to do the same.
  • Take responsibility and ownership of your section, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and tidiness are maintained.
  • Set examples to less experienced team members, demonstrating a positive attitude and work ethic.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and effectively, assisting others as needed.
  • Improve culinary skills and knowledge continuously, staying updated on industry trends, techniques, and new ingredients.
  • Cook confidently and present food to guests well, able to explain dishes clearly and professionally.
  • Seek guidance from senior chefs and actively participate in training programs and workshops.
  • Present a professional image at all times, adhering to company dress code and personal hygiene standards.
Requirements
  • Culinary qualification or experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Food hygiene qualification is essential.
  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a similar role.
  • Strong culinary skills with knowledge of various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment, particularly in the pastry section.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards and the ability to follow them strictly.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with the kitchen team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the demands of the restaurant.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for long periods, lift heavy pots and pans, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to act as a First Aid Aider or Fire Warden in the event of an accident or emergency.
