Paediatric Critical Care Unit Fellow

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Paediatric Critical Care Unit Fellow to join our team. This is a 6-month appointment available to start in March 2025. The successful candidate will have completed their membership exams or equivalent, such as MRCPCH or Primary FRCA, or EPIC Diploma.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Paediatric Critical Care Unit Fellow will be responsible for:

  • Conducting morning ward rounds
  • Leading evening hand-over rounds
  • Providing day-to-day care to PICU patients, including CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilated patients
  • Assessing children on A&E and paediatric wards prior to transfer to the unit
  • Liaising with teams and agencies involved with individual patients
  • Entering data into PICANET
  • Preparing discharge summaries

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in Paediatrics, Neonates, Paediatric or Adult Anaesthesia, or Emergency Medicine
  • At least 3 years' experience working in Paediatrics for paediatric trainees
  • Eligibility for full GMC Registration
  • Good spoken and written English

Desirable Criteria

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in Paediatric Intensive Care
  • Evidence of research activity and publications
  • Evidence of teaching experience to undergraduates
  • Proficiency in basic paediatric procedures
