Job Title:

Experienced General Sales Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced General Sales Manager to spearhead our go-to-market strategy for Prime Sales across the Energy & Transportation industries. As a dynamic leader, you will provide strategic leadership to a highly motivated team, fostering an atmosphere of energy, motivation, and commitment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Drive Revenue Growth: Develop and implement a customer-centric strategy that places customer experience, innovation, and engineering at its heart, driving profitable and sustainable revenue growth.
  2. Lead High-Performing Team: Mentor, manage, and develop a high-performing team, providing energy, motivation, and direction, and setting and monitoring achievement against stretch targets and objectives.
  3. Build Strong Relationships: Build strong relationships with Caterpillar on prime sales strategy, develop and own growth plans and targets within a ROIC framework, understand and establish best-in-class dealer foundational capabilities.
  4. Govern Sales Planning: Govern a robust and effective approach to sales planning, forecasting, and execution to optimise invested capital returns.
  5. Analyse Sales Penetration: Analyse and drive sales penetration across key customers and markets, capturing customer insight and using it to inform focused relationship development strategies and behaviours.
Requirements:
  1. Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the industries within Energy & Transportation.
  2. Commercial Awareness: Awareness of corporate industrial distribution businesses and OEMs.
  3. Data Analysis: Able to compile and analyse data and metrics and make decisions on strategic direction.
  4. Commercial Levers: Deep understanding of commercial & contractual levers to drive growth & eliminate risk.

  2. Strategy Execution: Proven track record of creating strategy and driving execution to deliver positive outcomes.

Accountability:
  1. Revenue Commitments: Deliver revenue, gross profit, SG&A, EBIT & ROIC commitments.
  2. Prime Sales Strategy: Lead the development and execution of Prime Sales Strategy.
  3. Business Growth: Drive profitable business growth.
  4. Customer Experience: Advocate the delivery of consistently high levels of customer experience.
  5. Sales Best Practices: Drive best practices in sales.
  6. Team Development: Build a diverse and inclusive team with high levels of employee engagement.
  7. Relationships: Foster productive relationships with Caterpillar and key suppliers.
  8. HSEQ Compliance: Ensure full compliance with HSEQ regulations.
  9. Sales Target: The sales target for approx. £190-£210 million.
Education & Experience:
  1. Qualifications: Degree qualified, ideally engineering with a post-graduate qualification such as an MBA, would be beneficial.
  2. Sales Growth Experience: Demonstrable involvement in successfully managing sales growth.
  3. Team Leadership: Experience in leading high-energy sales teams.
  4. Transformational Change: Demonstrable track record of delivering sustainable and profitable revenue growth through the development and implementation of strategy and leadership of a high-performing team.
  5. Behavioural Change: Evidence of being an advocate of, and conduit for, transformational change within an organisation in terms of its response to external market dynamics, customer expectations, and disruptive technologies.
