Job Summary:

We are seeking a part-time Computing Officer to join our Operations Section of the CMVM's campus IS Team, based at our Easter Bush campus. This role will be part of a job share with an existing member of staff, covering Wednesday - Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general and specialist IT support for the use of a wide range of IS and IT services by University of Edinburgh staff, students, and visitors.
  • Install and support desktop PCs, software applications, and AV equipment.
  • Resolve technical problems independently, with complex matters referred to senior colleagues where required.
  • Implement solutions to problems and work with the campus or other IS teams where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Good IT support skills, including the ability to analyse, diagnose, and fix problems with PC software and hardware.
  • Ability to provide guidance and advice to users on a range of IT services.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and work unsupervised within an agreed programme of work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly the ability to translate highly technical information into non-technical, easily understood language.
  • Excellent customer service skills, resourcefulness, and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Confident to take direct, independent action to ensure provision of service is maintained and equipment/systems operate effectively.
  • Able to identify the urgency of issues as they arise or are presented.

  • A competitive salary of UE06, £33,882 - £39,105 (pro-rata @ 0.6 FTE).
