Quantity Surveyor Role Overview

The successful candidate will be working for a well-established Architectural & General Metalwork Fabricator based in the UK. The company manufactures Steel Structures for the Construction Industry, working on a range of retail, commercial, residential, infrastructure, and utility projects.

The Quantity Surveyor will be working alongside a team of Project Managers and will work independently on a portfolio of steelwork projects. The Senior Surveyor will play a client-facing role, support the growth of the project management team, and deliver projects from feasibility through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing applications from subcontractors
  • Preparing/sorting tender pack information
  • Receiving and comparing quotes for future projects
  • Assessing payment notices
  • Ensuring cost control is maintained on project basis throughout procurement, delivery, and design, through to final account stage
  • Monitoring Project Costs
  • Collating Bills of Quantities
  • Collating information for Final Accounts
  • Attending financial meetings

Requirements

  • Degree or HNC within a Quantity Surveying or Civil/Structural Engineering Discipline
  • Working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Commercial Management works on site
  • Experience working in a commercial role
  • Understanding of steelwork preferred
  • Excellent IT skills - especially Excel and Google Sheets
  • A full UK driving licence
