The Shift Engineering Technician will be a dynamic, motivated, and ambitious team player with a background in delivering change, driving performance, improvement, and developing new and improved maintenance strategies. You'll be responsible for providing engineering resource in carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishment, installation, improvements, and modifications or upgrades to plant and services to maximise plant performance and maintain equipment to the required standard.

You'll carry out all engineering work to high Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Hygiene standards and support the engineering function in moving to World Class standard in maintenance standards. You'll also provide full Technical Engineering support to production function under the leadership of the Area Engineering Managers and work as part of a multi-functional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide full Technical engineering support to production under the leadership of the Area Engineering Manager
  • Specialist knowledge of biscuits and cake manufacturing equipment and associated bespoke control systems
  • Maintain high standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping
  • Decide on best course of action for major breakdowns in conjunction with team managers and AEMs
  • Plan own time to achieve priority actions
  • Implementation of continuous improvement programs using Speedy Kaizen / MBR etc
  • Deliver a consistent and improving plant reliability through the effective management and monitoring of downtime, PPM conformance, engineering planning, use of SAP PM, and elements of the engineering budget
  • Liaise with rd party contractors when required, ensure the Permit To Work (PTW) system is controlled in an effective and safe manner

Requirements:

  • This role is a multiskilled role & will require knowledge of mechanical engineering disciplines. There will also be a small requirement for electrical experience. It will also require an individual who can operate in various situations and environments.
  • Acting efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and make timely decisions is important. You will be proactive, and solution-focused with an aim to embed continuous improvement activities across the site.
  • You will need a proven engineering background through formal engineering qualification to at the least City & Guilds level, NVQ level or equivalent in a mechanical and/or electrical subject area, and practical working experience.
  • SAP PM experience

Shift Pattern: You will be required to work x-hour shifts per week (days followed by nights) which will include some weekends. Flexibility of working hours will be required for training, project work, or to facilitate cross-shift initiatives.
