Vacancy for Digital Preservation Training Officer

Full-Time

The School of Humanities at the University of Southampton is a hub for interdisciplinary research and teaching, encompassing a diverse range of subjects. Our Digital Humanities team contributes to this environment by enabling staff and students to take digital and computational approaches to the humanities.

You will play a key role in the successful delivery of the Southampton Digital Preservation Advisory Unit (SDPAU), a new flagship enterprise project hosted and supported by our team. SDPAU will offer expert, hands-on, and targeted commercial training, advice, and support in navigating, interpreting, and implementing digital preservation best practice. Our initial market research indicates a primary market for these services of galleries, libraries, archives, and museums, as well as community heritage groups, and a secondary market of corporate and civil institutions.

As part of the SDPAU team, you will deliver training, advice, and support in the domain of digital preservation, develop areas of specialism, contribute to income generation, and provide outstanding services to clients and partners. You will join a team of dedicated educators, researchers, and technicians supported by recent investment in Digital Humanities expertise, estate, and resources. Our Digital Humanities Hub is an infrastructure that supports study, research, and enterprise, and provides access to technologies that enable us to capture, compute, and create in new ways.
