Job Title: Principal Accountant

Babcock International Group is seeking a highly skilled Principal Accountant to join our team at our Devonport site. As a Principal Accountant, you will play a critical role in providing accurate and timely financial information and advice to Business Unit and Programme Managers, enabling them to exercise effective financial control and maximize value for money, cash flow, and profitability.

The Role

As a Principal Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing financial information and advice to Business Unit and Programme Managers to support strategic business growth and decision-making.
  • Leading financial performance reviews and managing and coaching members of staff to maintain the integrity of data and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinating and consolidating monthly performance packs for management reviews and preparing quarterly reports for Senior Management.
  • Maximizing profitability and ensuring timely and accurate cash recovery in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and financial software.
  • High-quality standards and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Sound technical knowledge and experience of IFS and/or Business Analytics.
  • A recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent.
  • Security clearance (SC) and the ability to achieve and maintain it.

Location

This role is based at our Devonport site and offers hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
