About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Market Researcher to join our analytics team at The Signal Group. As a Market Researcher, you will be responsible for producing high-quality insights on commodity and freight markets, ensuring timely and accurate analysis. Your expertise will help us stay ahead of the curve in this complex and volatile trading domain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regularly produce detailed reports on commodity and freight markets, ensuring high-quality insights.
  • Write and promote timely, ad-hoc pieces that respond to industry news, trends, or client needs, placing content in top industry media outlets.
  • Engage directly with Signal data, spending significant time on quality assurance and refining data to ensure it's client-ready and easily drives reports.
  • Scout, collect, and integrate data from sources outside of Signal to complement existing datasets and drive comprehensive analysis.
What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, engineering from a Tier 1 university.
  • More than 2 years of experience as an analyst or consulting role.
  • Strong motivation to deep dive and understand the market, its developments, and trends.
  • SQL knowledge.
  • Strong logical/analytical skills.
  • Experience working with large, disparate, and/or unstructured data sets, possessing excellent analytical ability, at ease with working with databases, and able to highlight trends and use complex data to support decisions.
  • Ability to work with several stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Python is a plus, but not a prerequisite.
  • Detailed knowledge of data analysis methods.
  • Strong English knowledge (both written and spoken).
  • Prior experience in the commodities industry is a plus.
