About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at R&V Group Ltd. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with sensory impairments and high needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with sensory impairments and high needs, promoting their educational and personal development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, tutors, and other support staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Assist students with communication, social, and emotional needs, using strategies such as Total Communication and Makaton.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of inclusive education practices, promoting a culture of acceptance and understanding.
Requirements
  • Hold or be willing to achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Learning Support.
  • Have a good understanding of Total Communication and be proficient in one or more specific strategies, such as Makaton.
  • Hold English and maths qualifications at Grade 4/Grade C or better.
  • Have experience working in a high needs students environment.
  • Be a competent user of commonly used software packages and be able to transfer skills to bespoke learning and/or communication support software.
  • Hold a clear understanding of child protection and Adult Safeguarding.

  • Positive, can-do approach.
  • Proven communication skills, offering simple and clear interactions with students who are LDD.
  • Able to work effectively within a team of people, and offer support and leadership in learning and assessment.
