Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Applications Research Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research and development activities, including testing new prototype functionality, establishing and validating new performance, characterising challenging nanostructures, and suggesting adjustments to the development path to facilitate user workflow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct experiments using atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, focused ion beam, and profilers to characterise nanostructures and develop new functionalities.
  • Analyse data using Python, Matlab, Excel, and other data analysis tools to extract key performance metrics and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and document how specific sections of the instrument work, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Develop and maintain design documents, scope of work descriptions, and presentations/training materials to communicate findings and best practices to the team.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BSc/BEng/MSc degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience through engineering apprenticeships and design/development positions.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an engineering or research role, preferably with expertise in instrumentation, prototyping, and integrating technology.
  • Strong data analysis and algorithmic skills, proficiency in data analysis tools, and experience working with semiconductor characterisation.
What We Offer
