Job Title: Consultant Haematologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Haematologist to join our clinical team at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in malignant haematology and be able to provide high-quality patient care.

Job Summary:

The Consultant Haematologist will be responsible for providing a weekly new patient clinic, a weekly lymphoma clinic, and a weekly AML/MDS clinic. They will also have designated time to support the laboratory, primary care advice, and guidance. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the weekly morphology meeting, core medical trainee and specialist haematology trainee teaching programme, and be a clinical supervisor for junior doctors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care in malignant haematology
  • Conduct weekly new patient clinics, lymphoma clinics, and AML/MDS clinics
  • Support the laboratory, primary care advice, and guidance
  • Participate in the weekly morphology meeting and core medical trainee and specialist haematology trainee teaching programme
  • Be a clinical supervisor for junior doctors
  • Participate in the on-call rota (overnight weekday and weekends) on a 1:6 cover
Person Specification:
  • MRCP / FRCPath or equivalent
  • Broad experience in clinical and laboratory haematology
  • Demonstrable knowledge of all aspects of general and malignant haematology
  • Experience of teaching and supervision of medical students and trainees
  • Formal training in management
  • Evidence of having undertaken audit work that has brought about change
