Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Ecologist to join our team at Mattinson Partnership. As a key member of our Ecology team, you will play a crucial role in advising and mentoring our team members on a range of unique and interesting projects across the UK and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a mentor and advisor to the Ecology team, providing guidance and support on ecological projects and developments.
  • Collaborate with other divisions within the consultancy, including arboriculturists and landscape architects, to deliver high-quality ecological services.
  • Conduct ecological assessments, including Ecological Enhancement schemes, preliminary ecological appraisals, BNG assessments, and protected species surveys.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their ecological needs and provide expert advice on ecological matters.
  • Develop and implement innovative ecological techniques to enhance our consultancy's standard practices.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Principal Ecologist or equivalent in the Ecology field.
  • Proven skills in PEAs, BNG assessments, and Protected Species Surveys.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK legislation and planning policy framework.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Line management experience and ability to lead and motivate a team.
