Job Description

The University of Essex is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer to join its Edge Hotel School. The successful candidate will be a key member of a small team of academic and professional services colleagues, led by the School's Head of Department and the Director of Research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the School's research strategy, with a focus on generating external income and laying foundations for a submission to REF2028.
  • Support the delivery of teaching and learning activities within the department, including undergraduate and postgraduate programs in hospitality, events, and tourism management.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research profile, with a focus on publishing academic output at international levels of recognition.
  • Provide leadership and management expertise in the organization and delivery of specific aspects of provision, including teaching and research.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field, with a strong track record of published academic output and a clear publication plan for future REF programs.
  • Experience of working independently in higher education teaching, with a sustained record of effectiveness in education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
