Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled Operations & Maintenance Scheduler to join our team at Connect Plus Services.


As an Operations & Maintenance Scheduler, you will be responsible for efficient planning and programming of all works in the quadrant, including the production of a quadrant plan.


You will work closely with the O&M Manager to continually adjust and refine the short-term programme to ensure that all KPIs (Cat 1, Cat 2 defects, and compliance with the Environmental Protection Act) and planned preventative maintenance for highways and structures are met.


You will also be responsible for maximising the utilisation of direct labour, identifying potential shortfalls, and mitigating them by raising SCIs as required.


Furthermore, you will manage the rota and liaise with Shift Managers to ensure that all shifts are adequately staffed.


You will also be responsible for maximising the efficient use of plant and materials, identifying shortfalls, and ordering materials or maintaining stock as required to minimise wastage and spending.


Additionally, you will ensure that all road space is booked and used efficiently through coordination with other internal and external works.


You will assist the O&M Manager with detailed resource planning, including people, plant, and materials.


Other responsibilities include processing weekly and monthly timesheets, ensuring that Shift Managers have correctly allocated all costs, and processing delivery notes into the financial management system.


You will also be responsible for liaising with other O&M Programmers and quadrant teams to improve the utilisation of resources across the network and share innovative ideas to improve Service Delivery.


Lastly, you will collate and maintain records relating to Severe Weather Events and update the Winter Database, as well as collate and maintain records relating to planned preventative maintenance for highways and structures.


Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a CSCS card, previous experience in highway maintenance or regulated sectors, and knowledge and experience of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality standards within a highways context.


You will also need a current UK driving license, previous experience of working in an operational depot environment, and competence in the use of Microsoft Office applications (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project or similar).


Experience of purchasing and/or storekeeping, as well as experience of planning shift rotas, would be advantageous.
