BMS Project & Energy Management Engineer

About the Role:

Hurtwood is a leading engineering and energy consultancy company seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a BMS Project & Energy Management Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the refurbishment of Building Management Systems (BMS) across various sites, including the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the refurbishment of BMS systems across multiple sites, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  2. Optimize new BMS systems to reduce energy consumption, potentially by up to £1 million.
  3. Collaborate with our consultancy team to gather user perceptions of building control and energy use, and assist with policy and strategy document analysis.
  4. Produce reports on existing installation conditions and specifications for upgrade work.
  5. Update electrical panel drawings and engineer graphical interfaces for everyday users within the Niagara framework.
  6. Assist with networking requirements for new BMS installations and provide training on metering arrangements for heat, gas, and electricity.
  7. Analyze energy performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to reduce energy consumption.
  8. Manage and develop our graduate and undergraduate apprentices on BMS and building services projects.

Requirements:

We are seeking an individual with pre-existing experience in building services and BMS, looking to step up to the next professional level. Full training, coaching, and mentoring will be provided in the skills required to operate at this level. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and an understanding of electrical drawing packages are essential. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are also required.
