Job Title: Academic Tutor for Secondary English

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled English teacher to join our team in Oldham, working with secondary-aged pupils who have Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This temporary full-time long-term supply role offers a competitive salary of £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience, in exchange for passion and dedication in teaching.

You will be working in an Ofsted Outstanding Special School providing education for children aged 4 to 19 with autism and/or additional diagnoses, boasting excellent facilities for teaching and learning.

The school has a strong focus on safety, inclusion and holistic outcomes for students, with a highly ambitious and meticulously designed curriculum that addresses gaps in knowledge.

Pupils benefit from small class sizes, typically no more than 8 students including TA support, allowing for tailored teaching approaches.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver engaging English lessons to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, using a range of teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  2. Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to manage challenging behaviour and build positive relationships with pupils.
  3. Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to regular feedback sessions with colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
  • Recent experience of teaching English to students aged 11 to 16
  • Subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
