Job Title: English Teacher for SEMH Pupils

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English teacher to work in an Ofsted Outstanding Special School in Oldham, supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This role comes with a competitive salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience, in exchange for commitment and enthusiasm in teaching.

The school provides education for children aged 4 to 19 with autism and/or additional diagnoses, boasting excellent facilities for teaching and learning, including small class sizes and TA support.

The school's curriculum is designed to address gaps in knowledge, focusing on safety, inclusion and holistic outcomes for students.

Teachers at this school work closely together to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans, ensuring each pupil receives the support they need.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and deliver English lessons to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, using a range of teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  2. Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to manage challenging behaviour and build positive relationships with pupils.
  3. Participate in regular feedback sessions with colleagues, monitoring and recording pupil progress.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
  • Recent experience of teaching English to students aged 11 to 16
  • Subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
