Early Years Group Leader Job Description

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Group Leader to join our team. As an Early Years Group Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the Early Years Foundation Stages are implemented and providing a safe and engaging environment for children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the Early Years Foundation Stages and ensure a smooth delivery of activities
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining a suitable base room area that is inviting for children
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure children's safety and well-being
  • Work with other staff members to deliver sessions and activities
  • Be the children's Key Worker and manage the exchange of relevant information
  • Ensure children's needs are met with active supervision and attention
  • Plan and deliver activities with structure and enthusiasm that are age-appropriate
  • Encourage maximum participation of children while following OFSTED guidance
  • Get to know children as individuals and incorporate their interests into activities
  • Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment provided for sessions
  • Facilitate children's development through Explore and Play sessions
Requirements:
  • Working towards or hold a relevant childcare qualification
  • Knowledge and experience within the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date of the contract
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references
  • Enthusiastic, caring, and organised with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges within a childcare setting
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas
  • Complete Online Training annually
  • Attend Induction Training Day
  • Assist with pack up at the end of camp
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfils all Health and Safety obligations
  • Organise and deliver activities that are appropriate for children's ages and abilities
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities and follow the activity programme
  • Ensure children behave in a safe manner and respect their individuality
  • Follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare
  • Be a positive role model and promote a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene practices
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to Senior Team or a Designated Person
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions
  • Pending staff availability, deliver Skills Builder sessions
  • Support swimming sessions and bring swimwear
