User Experience Engineering Lead

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced User Experience Engineering Lead to join our team. This role will be responsible for leading the design and development of user-centric interfaces for web and mobile applications, ensuring consistency across digital assets, applications, and products.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UI design principles, design systems, and UI development best practices. They will be responsible for leading the design and development of user-centric interfaces for web and mobile applications, ensuring consistency across digital assets, applications, and products. Additionally, they will work closely with the UX design team to ensure alignment and collaboration across functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and maintenance of our design system, ensuring it is fit for purpose and aligned with business needs.
* Ensure a practical application of design standards, processes, and principles within the team and external teams.
* Provide future thinking, strategy, and road mapping in relation to UI design and engineering, setting direction and horizon scanning to meet business needs.
* Take ownership of accessibility, ensuring usability and accessibility are at the forefront of design and development across different disciplines.
Requirements
* In-depth knowledge of design principles, UI best practices, and UX principles.
* Strong technical skills, including JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Sass, and React.
* Proven experience in designing and developing UI for web and mobile applications.
* Hands-on experience in building design systems, theory, and best practice application of structure, process, and technologies.
* Ability to educate and embed accessibility, inclusive design/development, and accessibility technologies and tools.
Benefits
* Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
* Annual discretionary bonus scheme.
* 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days.
