Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to join our Building Services facilities management team at Royal Derby Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the rechargeable Small Works and Developments Service, ensuring timely and accurate responses to client requests. Additionally, they will oversee the implementation of all work associated with Life Cycle Replacement and Service Variations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess requests for Small Works and Developments, preparing cost estimates and tracking progress.
  • Assist the commercial team in the recharge process, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Support the onsite team of project managers with larger projects, including preparing purchase orders and pricing ongoing service/maintenance costs.
  • Liaise with the Estates Team to ensure all aspects of the work are considered, including mechanical, electrical, and building services.
  • Ensure quotations are submitted to the client in a timely manner and that work is completed expeditiously.
  • Update drawings, manuals, and maintenance systems as necessary.
  • Represent the Estates Department at meetings with other disciplines and external bodies.
  • Assist in the management of Estates direct labour group, external contractors, and professionals as required.
  • Promote good health and safety and quality practices among direct labour and contractors.
  • Establish and maintain contacts within the hospital, with contractors, suppliers, and statutory bodies to provide high standards of estate care.
  • Manage maintenance subcontractors, monitor PPM completion, and provide technical support to the building section of the Maintenance Department as necessary.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday, typically 0800 – 1600 hrs.

Overtime may be required, including some weekends, and will be paid in line with our overtime rates.

We're Looking for:

  • Someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, or building services, with a Level 3 qualification or above.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.
  • Previous staff management experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Some experience of Health and Safety requirements is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Building and Fire Regulations, HTMs, and other applicable guidance is desirable.
