Job Title: Assistant Director of Finance

About the Role

The Assistant Director of Finance will work closely with the Corporate Management Team and Cabinet Members to deliver a strategic and ambitious growth agenda in the district. The post holder will provide leadership, management, and development of the Council's Finance services, including accountancy, payroll, governance, risk, internal audit, and procurement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the finance function, developing and implementing a modern, forward-thinking approach to financial management.
  • Provide professional expertise to the finance and revenues service and corporate management team.
  • Develop and apply financial strategy, pursuing opportunities that deliver that strategy.
  • Manage and monitor budgets, ensuring effective financial management and control.
  • Deputise as directed by the Deputy Chief Executive and Section 151 Officer.
Requirements
  • CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant.
  • Experience of leading a professional finance department or business unit in a local government environment or multifunctional commercial organization.
  • Experience of advising and supporting Director level officers and members on financial issues.
  • Current driving licence or ability to make suitable alternative arrangements.
