About the Role
  • This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced researcher to join our team as a Lead Research Scientist. We are looking for someone with expertise in microscopy development and a passion for advancing our understanding of biological systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of novel kits and biochemical or biophysical tools for super resolution microscopy, leading to Life Science tool product launches that enable users to visualise and analyse biological systems on the Nanoimager platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct hands-on lab work to support development of products (~70% of time commitment)
  • Manage up to three direct reports, supporting their professional and personal development (~30% of time commitment)
  • Design and execute proof-of-concept experiments for novel workflows and novel products enabling super-resolution imaging of biological materials
  • Test, refine and optimise new workflows for sample preparation and image acquisition protocols for use by internal & external customers
  • Optimise and refine protocols and reagents to be launched as Bioware products and kits within ONI's IP Portfolio
  • Design and execute verification and validation studies for user workflow protocols
  • Review and test designed protocols based on internal and external user feedback
  • Support implementation of products into super-resolution workflows on the Nanoimager
  • Maintain research and development records, including database management, batch records, notebooks, and all other technical documentation
  • Partner with the customer-facing teams within the company to identify key user needs and propose technical solutions to customer queries and issues
  • Support cross functional teams, project management, operations and manufacturing teams to enable product development leading to successful commercialization of products
  • Support external partners through research collaborations to develop technical notes, application notes, webinars, and scientific publications
What You Will Need
  • Managed at least one full-time employee for over a year, providing direct supervision and leadership.
  • Worked as part of a team to contribute to the development of successfully commercialised products used as research tools in life sciences or as diagnostics.
  • Analysed, interpreted, presented, published research data in a rigorous peer reviewed environment, in a multidisciplinary life science team.
  • Microscopy and other biophysical methods for biological research
  • Assay development, optimisation, and troubleshooting
  • Complex biological sample preparation and handling
  • Skilled in biological chemistry, biochemistry, protein sciences, cell/subcellular systems, or Molecular biology
  • Experimental design, data acquisition, data analysis.
  • Hands-on laboratory skills, solving conceptual problems using multiple analytical tools, instruments and systems
  • Advanced degree (PhD/DPhil) in relevant field i.e. molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, physics, or chemistry
  • 4 years of post-graduate experience with at least 2 years of industry experience developing life science tools or diagnostics
Competitive Compensation Package
