Care Home Cook Opportunity


We are currently recruiting for an experienced Head Chef to join our Hospitality team at Runwood Homes, a leading provider of residential elderly care in the UK.


As a Head Chef, you will have the chance to deliver high-quality, nutritious meals to our residents while working in a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be responsible for creating well-balanced menus that cater to the diverse dietary needs of our residents, as well as managing the kitchen staff to ensure seamless food service delivery.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs of our residents, taking into account their health conditions and preferences.
  • Manage the kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels to minimize waste and optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with residents, family members, and healthcare professionals to understand individual needs and preferences, ensuring personalized meal plans.
  • Lead by example, setting the pace and standards for the kitchen team, promoting teamwork and open communication.
  • Monitor and evaluate menu performance, making adjustments as needed to maintain resident satisfaction and nutritional standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance culinary skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, providing insights on menu performance, sales data, and resident feedback.


Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a catering or hospitality environment, preferably within a care home setting.
  • Intermediate/Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate, with a proven track record of maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a close-knit team.
  • Familiarity with nutrition planning software and tools, with a basic understanding of nutritional information and its application in menu planning.
