Senior Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients and supporting their rehabilitation journey.
Main Responsibilities- To work as an autonomous practitioner within the integrated multi-professional team, responsible for own caseload and undertaking assessment of patients with complex and multiple pathologies using specialist clinical reasoning skills.
- To identify patient needs, agree goals and provide appropriate therapy interventions, provide adaptive equipment, rehabilitation programmes, and make recommendations for minor adaptations in line with current legislation.
- To keep the patient at the centre of care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making, and providing support and education to peers, new staff, non-registered staff, and students.
- To be accountable for a delegated caseload held by Band 5 Therapists and Assistant Practitioners, prioritising all patients' tasks according to clinical need and allocating or signposting appropriately.
- To work in various community settings within CPFT as required, completing access and home visits, and promoting independence and reducing inpatient length of stay.

Requirements- Essential qualifications: Degree or equivalent, HCPC registration, and documented evidence of continuing professional development.
- Desirable qualifications: Member of COT, Fieldwork/Practice Educator qualification, and experience in community settings.
- Essential skills: Ability to work flexibly, good communication skills, and standard keyboard skills.
- Desirable skills: SystmOne, and knowledge of relevant outcome measures.
- The ability to kneel, bend, and stoop, and work in cramped environments.
- Move and manoeuvre people and equipment, and manoeuvre patients using moving and handling aids.
- Travel around work base locality.
- Demonstrates empathy for the concerns of others, listens to and understands directly and indirectly expressed feelings, and manages strong emotions and responds constructively to the source of problems.
- Shows respect for others' feelings, views, and circumstances, and has a range of mechanisms for dealing with stress.
- Positive approach to older people, recognises people's right to privacy and dignity, and treats every person with respect.
