Job Title: Financial Inventory Manager

About the Job

We are looking for an experienced Financial Inventory Manager to join our team at Octopus Energy Services. This role will be responsible for managing our low carbon technology inventory, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing accounting and financial aspects of inventory, including warehouse and van stock.
  • Ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of inventory balances and movements.
  • Conducting regular inventory reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Developing and maintaining standard costing models for inventory budgets and forecasting, ensuring accuracy and relevancy to business needs.
  • Monitoring and analysing cost variances related to inventory, working closely with operations to improve cost controls and efficiency.
  • Supporting the monthly financial close process by preparing journal entries and ensuring the integrity of inventory-related financial statements.
  • Providing detailed reporting and analysis on inventory levels, usage, and cost trends to support decision-making by senior management.
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls over inventory processes and systems to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Liaising with warehouse and logistics teams to improve inventory accuracy and optimise stock levels.
  • Partnering with auditors for inventory audits and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  • Driving continuous improvement in inventory accounting processes and systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • 3-5 years post-qualification experience (PQE) with a focus on cost accounting, inventory management, or similar roles.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in inventory accounting and cost analysis.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems and proficient in Excel.Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
