About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Asthma Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. As an Asthma Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with severe asthma, working closely with GPs, practice nurses, and nurse practitioners to deliver high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage a caseload of patients with severe asthma, providing support from referral to diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Contribute to planning diagnostics work-ups to support asthma diagnosis and confirm eligibility for biologics.
  3. Administer biologic injections to patients, assess their response, and deliver questionnaires and relevant investigations.
  4. Help patients use medication appropriately, check inhaler technique, and improve their understanding of medication.
  5. Coach patients to become independent and provide remote and face-to-face support.
  6. Assess, monitor, and provide management plans to patients in nurse-led clinics (virtual and face-to-face).
  7. Assist with training patients to self-administer medication and complete clinical proformas for local and regional multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  8. Enter patient data onto the national BTS Severe Asthma Registry.
