About the Role

As a Special Constable with Derbyshire Constabulary, you will play a vital role in helping to keep our communities safe. You will work alongside regular police officers and Police Community Support Officers to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, and provide a visible uniformed presence to reduce the fear of crime and promote confidence in our communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out high-visibility foot patrols to deter and detect criminals.
  • Providing education and advice to businesses and the community on crime prevention and safety.
  • Working with schools to educate children about crime reduction and community safety.
  • Confronting anti-social behaviour and managing alcohol-related incidents.
  • Imposing road safety laws and conducting house-to-house enquiries.
  • Participating in police operations to disrupt and arrest offenders.

Requirements

  • Be 17 1⁄2 years old on application and 18 years old on appointment.
  • Be a UK Citizen, EU Citizen with EU Settled or Pre Settled Status, a Commonwealth Citizen or Foreign National with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom.
  • Be in good health and of good character.
