Lead a High-Performing Team in Torfaen County Borough Council

About the Role:

Torfaen County Borough Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead its Financial Services division. As the Head of Financial Services, you will be responsible for providing customer-focused, cost-effective accounting and financial services to colleagues across the council, as well as fulfilling corporate finance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a high-performing team to deliver excellent financial management, planning, and reporting services
  • Develop and implement effective financial strategies to support the council's goals and objectives
  • Provide expert advice on financial matters to senior management and councillors
  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and systems
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in finance, with a qualified accountant status. You will also need to have experience of effective leadership and management within a complex environment, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
