About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Financial Services team at Torfaen County Borough Council. As Head of Financial Services, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and direction to the council, ensuring the effective management of our finances and resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the council's corporate objectives
  • Lead the Financial Services team to deliver high-quality financial services to colleagues across the council
  • Manage the council's financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes
  • Provide expert advice on financial matters to senior managers and councillors
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in financial management, leadership, and governance. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for a qualified accountant with significant experience of leading financial teams in a complex environment. You will need to demonstrate a deep understanding of corporate finance and the ability to provide strategic financial leadership to the council.
