Archive Collections Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Archive Collections Specialist to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition.
About the Role
The successful candidate will support the development and care of our digital archives, undertaking a full range of professional archival responsibilities. This will include:
- Acquisition and Appraisal: Undertake a thorough assessment of incoming collections to ensure their relevance and value to our organization.
- Preservation and Cataloguing: Develop and implement strategies for the long-term preservation and cataloguing of our digital collections, ensuring they are accessible and usable for research and education.
- Digitisation and Digital Preservation: Work closely with our digitisation team to ensure the creation of high-quality digital surrogates and the implementation of robust digital preservation strategies.
- Line Management and Workflow Management: Provide line management and support to our digitisation team, ensuring the smooth operation of our digitisation workflow.
- Collaboration and Liaison: Liaise with our research centre and other stakeholders to ensure the effective management of our digital archives and the support of research and public engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the highest standards of professional ethics and compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures for the management of our digital archives.
- Providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on matters related to digital preservation and collections management.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices in digital preservation and collections management.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong background in archival studies or a related field.
- Proven experience in digital preservation and collections management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
