Orpington, Greater London, United Kingdom Amazon UK Services Ltd. Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Reliability Maintenance Engineering team at Amazon UK Services Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on a wide range of equipment and facilities
  • Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution environment
  • Utilize advanced tools and technologies to maximize equipment effectiveness
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety policies and practices
  • Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects and the implementation of best practices across multiple sites
A Day in the Life

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be based on-site, allowing you to respond quickly to any equipment issues. Your day will be filled with a range of planned preventative maintenance tasks, ensuring our equipment operates safely and efficiently. You will also respond promptly to breakdowns, investigating, finding, and implementing solutions as quickly as possible.

You will work closely with senior colleagues to undertake day-to-day maintenance tasks, such as painting and plumbing, and will liaise with contractors when external expertise is required. You will work on a range of shifts to ensure our sites are supported around the clock, allowing Amazon to deliver at the speed we're known for.

About the Team

Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering team is a technically-minded group of excellent team players, guided by experienced leaders. We work together to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers. Some of our team members are leaders, overseeing the team as they work on exciting technologies – some of which only exist at Amazon.

We handle most aspects of Amazon's technical side, including installing automated packaging systems, overseeing general maintenance of sites, and repairing key distribution equipment. This includes ensuring buildings are legally compliant, so everyone is safe, and our sites operate at maximum efficiency. There are opportunities for progression, both within the RME team and more widely across Amazon.

What We're Looking For
  • A served full Engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
  • Relevant experience working in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
  • Advanced proficiency in the local language verbally and in writing

Preferred qualifications include an apprentice-trained background, HNC, HND, BSc, or BEng. Experience in condition-based monitoring, working with print and apply machines, and fault-finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems are also desirable.
