Job Title: Complementary Therapy Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Complementary Therapy team as a Support Specialist. This role involves practicing agreed therapies on a voluntary basis to patients and carers in the In-Patient Unit and Living Well Treatment Rooms at St Wilfrid's Hospice.

Salary: £18,500 - £20,000 per annum (pro rata)

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in massage, reflexology, or acupuncture to join our team and make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. As a Complementary Therapy Support Specialist, you will work closely with our nursing staff and guided by our Complementary Therapy Leads to provide high-quality care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hold a recognized qualification for massage, reflexology, or acupuncture, with a minimum level 3 massage qualification required.
  2. Ensure treatments are carried out with accountability in line with hospice policy and the professional body to which you belong.
  3. Undertake training as invited by the manager of the role.
  4. Not promote your own private practice; notify the CT Team if a patient inquires about private treatment.
  5. Be up to date with the required mandatory training.
  6. Understand the importance of confidentiality and data security and adhere to this policy.
  7. Comply with the relevant policies and procedures of St Wilfrid's Hospice.
Training and Support

As a member of our team, you will receive comprehensive training and support to ensure your success in this role. This includes:

  • Hospice volunteer induction training including eLearning modules.
  • Department-specific training as required.
  • SystmOne training.
  • Induction to the role during the first shift with the Complementary Therapy Leads.
  • Ongoing support from the Complementary Therapy Leads and the Voluntary Services Team.

Requirements:

  • A recognized qualification in massage, reflexology, or acupuncture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data security policies.
