Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our Diabetes CNS team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in diabetes management and be able to work independently as an autonomous practitioner.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing diabetes in specialist clinics, including renal, pregnancy, and pump services. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a commitment to service provision and continual professional development.

Main Duties
  1. To work as an autonomous practitioner and effectively coordinate and deliver an expert nursing service within diabetes.
  2. To be involved in the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.
  3. To establish clear lines of communication with primary healthcare.

Person Specification
  • Level 1 NMC Adult Registered Nurse
  • One of the following as a minimum - Diabetes Diploma/certificate or willingness to undertake, Non-Medical Independent Prescriber/ or willingness to undertake, teaching qualification or equivalent expert experience
  • Experience of managing diabetes in specialist clinics (renal, pregnancy/gestational, pump, YAC)
  • Mentorship qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Counselling qualification or willingness to undertake
