Role Summary
Firmware designers with a passion for innovation are encouraged to apply for this Principal Firmware Engineer position. The ideal candidate will have expertise in VHDL and SystemVerilog, as well as experience with FPGA technologies from Xilinx, Altera, or Microsemi.

About the Role
As a Principal Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing firmware using a structured process. Your key skills will include creating innovative VHDL-based FPGA designs, advanced verification techniques, and working with Model Driven Engineering tools like MATLAB and Simulink. You will also need to analyze system-level documents and derive detailed firmware requirements, specifying complex timing and area constraints for efficient FPGA place and route. Additionally, you will be expected to debug firmware designs and support system-related verification and integration.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Creating innovative VHDL-based FPGA designs
  1. Advanced verification techniques using either VHDL or SystemVerilog/UVM
  1. Current FPGA technologies from Xilinx, Altera, or Microsemi and their tools
  1. Model Driven Engineering tools including MATLAB and Simulink
  1. High Speed Interface Design & Integration, including PCIe, DDR3, Ethernet
  1. Analyzing system level documents and deriving detailed firmware requirements
  1. Adopting a methodical approach to the full firmware design lifecycle, ideally working to a structured firmware process such as RTCA DO-254 or similar
  1. Specifying complex timing and area constraints for efficient FPGA place and route
  1. De-bugging firmware designs and supporting system related verification and integration
