Job Title: Strategic Planning Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Planning Officer to join our Planning Service team at Wiltshire Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a leading role in coordinating and delivering up-to-date planning frameworks for Wiltshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver complex planning projects, including reviewing the Local Plan and key topics such as employment, housing, and renewable energy.
  • Lead teams to deliver projects and engage with communities and stakeholders to support appropriate and sustainable development in Wiltshire.
  • Prepare and deliver reports with recommendations for project leads/teams to use when developing policies.
  • Research planning and industry issues relevant to Wiltshire and the local sub-regional area.

Requirements:

  • Planning-related degree and higher qualification accredited by the RTPI.
  • Post-qualification experience working on significant strategic planning policy matters and preparation of local plans.
  • Experience in appearing as an expert witness at planning appeals or examination in public.
