We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our Planning Service team at Wiltshire Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our communities and ensuring that our planning frameworks are up-to-date and effective.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex planning projects, including the review of the Local Plan and key topics such as employment, housing, and renewable energy. You will work closely with stakeholders to deliver sustainable development and ensure compliance with statutory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver up-to-date planning frameworks for Wiltshire
  • Lead teams to deliver complex projects involved with reviewing the Local Plan or key topics
  • Engage communities and stakeholders to support appropriate and sustainable development
  • Prepare and deliver reports with recommendations for project leads/teams
  • Research planning and industry issues relevant to Wiltshire and the local sub-regional area
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A planning-related degree and higher qualification accredited by the RTPI
  • Post-qualification experience working on significant strategic planning policy matters and preparation of local plans
  • Experience in appearing as an expert witness at planning appeals, or examination in public
