About the Role:

The English Department Head will be responsible for managing the English Department and liaising with Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Department, Heads of Year, Special Educational Needs Coordinator, subject staff, and support staff.

The successful candidate will strategically plan for the development of the following areas, demonstrating impact on the learning and progress of pupils to narrow the gaps in the achievement of all groups of learners through:

  • Securing high-quality teaching which directly impacts pupil progress.

Key Responsibilities:

The English Department Head will be responsible for:

  • Prioritizing, planning, and organizing the department's curriculum and resources.
  • Motivating and inspiring pupils, staff, parents, governors, and the wider community.
  • Demonstrating the impact of teaching and learning on progress.
  • Committing to providing high-quality feedback to all learners and leading by example in this area.
  • Awareness of whole school issues.
  • Able to deliver GCSE English.
