Job Title: Social Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Educator to join our Education Team at Harmeny Education Trust. As a Social Educator, you will play a vital role in providing learning support and promoting engagement with learning for children who have experienced early years trauma.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the Class Teacher and Education Teams to contribute to the provision of high-quality learning experiences and outcomes for children. You will be responsible for creating a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters social skills development, emotional well-being, and academic achievement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized learning support and promote engagement with learning within the classroom and other environments.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of care plans that address the needs of children.
  • Work collaboratively with the Education Management Team to implement the School Improvement Plan and Harmeny Strategic Plan.
  • Communicate effectively with education and care colleagues, parents, and other professionals to ensure coherent working and positive outcomes for children.
  • Develop and implement risk assessment planning for children and provide physical intervention techniques when required.
Requirements
  • A relevant qualification in Social Care, such as an HNC or SVQ, and registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.
  • Knowledge and understanding of children who are Looked After and Accommodated and children with complex Additional Support Needs.
  • Experience in residential work, childcare, or education settings, with a commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good communication, organizational, and administrative skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A full driving license and the ability to drive fleet vehicles and transport children as required.
