Binnies, an RSK Group Company, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to our @one Alliance.

As a key member of a multi-disciplinary project team, you will provide mechanical engineering technical capability and design expertise to develop and deliver water and water recycling TOTEX solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and analysis of key mechanical options, ensuring risks and gaps are mitigated while upholding the Project Basis of Design.
  • Design calculations to size mechanical, hydraulic, power generating, and building services equipment.
  • Liaise with the supply chain to assess and understand the latest technologies as part of the optioneering process.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop 3D models and solutions.
  • Oversee outputs for various processes, including P&IDs, data sheets, HAZID and HAZOP studies, and mechanical input into commissioning plans.
  • Support the team in driving excellence in Health & Safety, demonstrating applied knowledge and skills to produce safe designs in accordance with CDM Regulations and standards.
  • Identify and promote opportunities to meet project digital, sustainability, innovation, and people objectives.

A little about your skills, experience, and behaviours:

To be successful in this role, you will hold a minimum of a HND or equivalent in a mechanical engineering discipline and have extensive practical mechanical design experience in a similar environment.

You will possess a proven track record of designing hydraulic and mechanical systems and products, as well as a good understanding of modular build and construction processes and procedures.

Your broad knowledge of electrical control, instrumentation, and switchgear equipment and suppliers will enable you to make value-added suggestions and informed decisions in complex situations.

Working collaboratively and integratedly, you will be aware of how your work and actions impact your colleagues and customers across the region.

You will work with accountability and integrity at all times, taking personal responsibility and showcasing strong teamwork skills to assist in meeting project timelines.

You will be willing to safely try new approaches and processes, utilising new technologies where possible to drive efficiencies.
