London, Greater London, United Kingdom PhysicsX Ltd Full time

PhysicsX Ltd is a leading deep-tech company that utilizes machine learning applications to accelerate physics simulations and unlock optimization opportunities in design and engineering.

We have a rapidly growing team of scientists and engineers, with expertise in some of the most advanced and important industries of our time – including Space, Aerospace, Medical Devices, Additive Manufacturing, Electric Vehicles, Motorsport, and Renewables. Our work has a positive impact on society, improving the design of artificial hearts, reducing CO2 emissions from aircraft and road vehicles, and increasing the performance of wind turbines.

As a Machine Learning Engineer at PhysicsX Ltd, you will be part of shaping our key product engineering areas – software development standards, frameworks, testing and release process. You will collaborate closely with our simulation engineers, data scientists, and customers to develop an understanding of the physics and engineering challenges we are solving. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing Python libraries that solve complex problems in applying machine learning to design and engineering.

You will also write high-quality code that allows us to create scalable and reliable machine learning libraries, using common libraries for 3D mesh data manipulation and deep learning such as PyVista, JAX, TensorFlow, PyTorch. Additionally, you will explore new techniques and frameworks to integrate into our tech stack, as technology evolves.

This role requires enthusiasm about building machine learning products for science and engineering. The ideal candidate should hold a degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent, with 2+ years' experience in a product engineering role, exposing them to implementing Python libraries using OOP principles, experience applying DL or NN model architectures to geometric data, and extensive experience with numerical and DL libraries.

The salary for this position is £80,000 per annum, plus a competitive equity package and generous benefits, including flexible working hours, vacation time, and parental leave. You will work in a flat hierarchy where voicing your ideas is encouraged, especially when they challenge the status quo. We value diversity and commit to equal employment opportunity regardless of sex, race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, disability, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
