HGV Technician Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our workshop division at Gregory Distribution. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and fault-finding on vehicles and trailers using the latest diagnostic equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex vehicle faults using advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain and repair vehicles and trailers to meet DVSA and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure all legal documents are completed accurately and on time.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve workshop objectives and targets.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and health and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Qualified HGV Technician up to Level 3 (Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair) or part-qualified HGV Technician up to Level 2 (Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair).
  • HGV Class 1 CE licence beneficial.
  • 3 years previous experience required.
  • Intuitive diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to carry out PMI to DVSA standards.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under own initiative.

Why Gregory Distribution?

  • Basic salary for HGV Technician is £43,965pa, based on 42.5hrs per week. Overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate.
  • Shift basis: Week 1 Monday – Friday 06:00hrs – 15:00hrs, Week 2 14:00hrs – 22:00hrs and Saturday morning 07:00hrs – 12:00hrs.
  • £10.00 standby rota allowance.
