The Role

The successful candidate will initially be based in our London office for a minimum period of 6 months, during which they will report to the Chief Petroleum Engineer and work closely with the engineering team. This phase will focus on gaining valuable office-based skills such as learning new software, nodal analysis, and well/field reviews.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. Develop petroleum engineering skills by applying and understanding the fundamental principles through the execution of various internal technical projects.
  2. Proactively learn and adapt to new industry software to enhance technical capabilities.
  3. Contribute to the development and maintenance of appropriate optimisation models, incorporating well and surface network analysis.
  4. Develop expertise in utilising in-house data management software to ensure seamless data handling and analysis.
  5. Perform comprehensive well and field reviews to understand the dynamic behaviours of reservoirs.
  6. Conduct comprehensive reviews of reservoir and well losses across multiple fields, identifying strategies to minimise future losses.
  7. Optimise the water injection system and work closely with subsidiary engineers to identify opportunities to improve water flood sweep efficiency.
  8. Collaborate with other team members to ensure optimal performance of beam pumps, ESPs, surface pipeline network and associated facilities.
  9. Provide support for production allocation and forecasting processes when required.
  10. Identify and develop well work opportunities, including cost analysis, engineering design and assistance with implementation.
Key Skills & Qualifications Required
  1. Minimum 2:1 Masters degree in Engineering Subject.
  2. Basic knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.
  3. Must be flexible and mobile, willing to travel and explore opportunities across Africa.
  4. Proficient in MS Office, including database connectivity and management.
  5. Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is desirable but not essential.
