Become a key member of our Commissioning Engineering team at BAE Systems, where you'll play a vital role in setting to work mechanical marine systems and equipment across the entire ship platform.

Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Job Description:

In this senior commissioning engineer role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of mechanical marine systems, including power and propulsion, HVAC and Hotel, fixed fire fighting, hull and deck, and piping systems. You'll act as a mechanical authorised person, overseeing safe systems of work, isolations, permits, and progressive energisation of systems.

  • You'll conduct audits and inspections of mechanical ships systems for handover to commissioning, collaborating with ship operations and design teams.
  • You'll create technical documentation to support set-to-work and trails, such as test forms, minor trials documentation, sea trials serials, and risk assessments.
  • You'll coordinate with equipment manufacturers' representatives, clients, and acceptance bodies to demonstrate successful acceptance of ships systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • An HNC qualification in a relevant technology, engineering, or science discipline, or extensive experience in a commissioning role.
  • Experience in marine engineering or similar industries.
  • A good understanding of mechanical marine systems operation and design.
  • Strong people skills, enabling effective collaboration within multi-disciplined teams and environments.
