Estimator Job Description

A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team in East Sussex. Reporting to the Pre-Contracts Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing project tender packages for existing and new clients within the water and marine sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a business that has recently been awarded significant new contracts and is expanding its workforce and operations across the South East.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret project briefs and create pricing schedules that capture all required scope.
  • Research and gather costs for materials, transport, labor, and equipment.
  • Conduct site visits with suppliers and contractors to obtain quotes.
  • Liaise with the project controls team to build a tender program and ensure adequate project preliminaries are applied.
  • Assess risk levels associated with projects and ensure adequate risk is applied to price and program.
  • Prepare and present tender quotations internally for review and approval.
  • Present tender quotations to clients.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist with bids for new contracts and frameworks.
  • Support the project delivery team and buyers as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments and support senior managers within the business.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Competency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
