Consult is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join our team in the Performance Chemicals department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and expert advice in all aspects of personal safety, health, and security for our dynamic hazardous process manufacturing site and remote employees across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor and update the site Risk Register and Legal Register to ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
- Manage relationships with the UK Health and Safety Executive and other regulatory bodies for visits, inspections, audits, and reporting.
- Implement and maintain Corporate Health, Safety, and Security policies, ensuring site compliance through internal auditing, inspections, and observations.
- Develop and implement Behavioural safety programs to promote a generative safety culture among employees and contractors.
- Manage the site Emergency response team and First aiders, providing training, exercise drills, and facilities/equipment to ensure effective incident management and response.
- Lead, develop, and delegate to Safety and Health personnel to enhance capabilities and site performance.
- Manage the site ISO 45001 Management System and SHE Self-Assessment Program, supporting integrated Management Systems for ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications in collaboration with Quality and Environmental Manager.
- Manage the Safety and Health budget, ensuring cost targets are met.
- Bachelor/University degree in occupational safety, engineering, sciences, or related field.
- Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate in Safety, Minimum Grad IOSH preferred.
- Minimum five years relevant Health & Safety experience in a Hazardous Process Industry environment (Chemical, Steel, Oil & Gas, Pharma).
- In-depth knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and practices.
- Practical experience of Behavioural safety and culture change.
- Practical hands-on experience of confined space entry, risk assessment, safe systems of work, contractor safety during shutdown and construction in a hazardous process industry environment.
- Hazardous materials knowledge coupled with Emergency response planning and capability.
- Highly computer literate for Microsoft systems such as SharePoint, e-learning programs, and incident/action databases.
- Ability to organize and manage diverse and multiple resources, including budgets, people, contractors, and service providers.
- Ability to deal with external contacts and community as needed.
